Fine Art To Celebrate Armed Forces Day

Fine Art To Celebrate Armed Forces Day

Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo aren’t the only reasons to celebrate during the fifth month of the year. Since 1949, the third Saturday in May has been set aside to honor our armed forces: the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. Mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters throughout the United States dedicate years of their lives to serve us, and now we get an opportunity to give back.

We’ve put together a list of paintings to help you give art for Armed Forces Day or find pieces that make decorating your celebration venue simple.

The Spirit Of New York

The Spirit Of New YorkThe Spirit of New York painting is ideal business decor for Armed Forces Day and every day. The sunset, NYC skyline, and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge take center stage at first. However, the longer you look, the easier it is to see the gentle nods to the freedoms we enjoy and the people who make that possible. Lady Liberty stands tall in the distance as a military vessel travels that way down the East River.

Dedicated To Liberty

If you want the Statue of Liberty front and center this Armed Forces Day, add the Dedicated to Liberty painting to your home decor. For generations, this symbol of freedom has stood as a beacon of light and hope. You can now bring the “Painter of Light’s™” Limited Edition interpretation home and into your Armed Forces Day observances.

Heading Home

Heading HomeIf the heroes you are honoring this May are members of the military that have passed on, we invite you to consider Thomas Kinkade’s Heading Home painting. Thom specifically painted the homecoming veteran facing away from us, bathed in light, and with no specific city or town in the background, with the intention that we would see the “essence of the American soldier.”

He imagined this soldier heading home to joyful reunions or “the bliss of heaven,” and now you can too.

Homecoming Hero

Homecoming Hero is another painting by Thomas Kinkade that celebrates the return of a member of the armed forces. If you are looking for a patriotic gift for the retired “leatherneck” or “gyrene” in your life, this artwork features a Marine in the Norman Rockwell tradition returning to his hometown farm amid chicken and cheerful waves of family and friends.

A large yellow ribbon graces a tree in front of the home, expressing support for this military member and hope for the day he will return.

America’s Pride & The Light Of Freedom

America'S PrideIf no Armed Forces Day decor would be complete without the Stars and Stripes, you don’t want to miss paintings from Thom’s Flags Over America collection. Our nation’s capital is featured behind the flag in America’s Pride. The Light of Freedom features New York City. The American flag is the main attraction in both patriotic paintings, boldly waving on an eagle-topped pole and lit as if from heaven above.
