A Lifelong Love Of Disney Art

Dirk’s fascination with Disney began as a child. In 1955, the year Disneyland opened, eight-year-old Dirk sent several of his drawings to Walt Disney Studios. The Studio responded with an encouraging letter that he still treasures today.

His childhood passion eventually became part of his professional career. By 1981, Dirk was freelancing with the marketing division of Disney Studios in Burbank, creating illustrations for film catalogs, video game packaging, and the launch of The Disney Channel. His work included a memorable image of Sorcerer Mickey pointing toward the Disney Channel logo.

From Disney Studios To Thomas Kinkade

Dirk also created work for Warner Bros., Universal Studios, and other entertainment and educational clients before another important opportunity arrived in 2004.

After discovering Dirk’s artwork online, Thomas Kinkade invited him to help bring his vision for Disney-inspired fine art to life. Dirk went on to work closely with Kinkade for eight years, traveling to events, researching future paintings, and preparing Disney characters for 12 of Kinkade’s classic Disney film paintings.
