Dirk was interested in drawing and fascinated with Disney films at an early
age. He was eight when he sent some of his drawings to Walt Disney
Studios. They replied with an encouraging letter that would focus his
education and career path to art and design.
Dirk began his professional career as a graphic designer, illustrator, and
photographer, and in 2004, he received a life-changing call. Thomas
Kinkade saw work Dirk did for Disney a decade earlier and invited him
to join the Thomas Kinkade Studios to create Disney art in the Kinkade
style. Dirk traveled and worked closely with Thom for eight years before
his passing. He was honored to prepare all the characters for the first 12
paintings in Thom’s Disney Dreams Collection and is proud to be a Thomas
Kinkade Studios Legacy Artist, creating new Disney and Star Wars™ art.
Dirk and his wife, Patti, are overwhelmed by the love and joy they feel
from guests they meet at Disney Dreams Collector events.
