Art Notes
Fifty years ago, the King of Rock ‘n Roll bought the palace that became a Mecca for lovers of American pop culture. Graceland is one of the most visited homes in America.
I grew up with Elvis Presley’s great songs and movies; naturally, I was delighted when I got the opportunity to paint the official 50th Anniversary portrait of Graceland. I set up my easel at Graceland on a crisp autumn morning when the stately home was particularly cozy and welcoming. I was inspired to paint it with smoke curling from the chimney and a golden light blazing in every window.
Studio Proof
The Studio Proof Limited Editions can differ depending on release date. Images released prior to April 6, 2012, are created with a textured brushstroke process that recreates the artist’s actual brushwork. A Master Highlighter then finishes and hand sketches an original and identifying Remarque on the verso side of the canvas. The artist then places final highlights himself, and hand signed the front of the canvas in metallic ink. Lastly, a foil stamped gold Studio Proof seal is applied to the verso side. S/P is applied during the numbering process to designate the piece as a Studio Proof.
Images released after April 6, 2012, are a special reserve edition. Each is created with a unique textured brushstroke process. A Master Highlighter then enhances the image with additional highlights and hand sketches an original and identifying Remarque on the verso side of the canvas. Lastly, a foil-stamped gold Studio Proof seal is applied to the back of the canvas. S/P is added during the numbering process to designate the piece a Studio Proof, and a metallic authorized signature is applied to the front of the canvas.
