Art Notes
The story of Exodus is one of the most powerfully moving narratives in the Bible and, indeed, one of the most important readings in all of world culture. It touches on many of the most important themes of Judeo-Christian belief and gives them to the reader in a very dramatic and easily visualized manner. The importance of covenant, the promise of salvation, and the proof of an ever-present God are all revealed in this magnificent tale. It is my hope that through this painting these foundational ideas are made apparent and feed the spiritual growth of those who view it. It is also the case that I wanted to tell the story of Exodus in full. From the finding of a baby in a basket in the reeds along the shore of the Nile to the moment God provided his Commandments on Mount Sinai, the entire tale is told. Look to the turbulent waves and the rolling clouds and see the many scenes unfold. “Exodus” is the third painting in my Stories of the Bible series. Look closely and you will find that I pay homage to my first two titles, “Noah” and “Jonah”. The final painting in the group of four, “The Garden of Eden”, is yet to come. I hope you all enjoy my efforts on and my vision for this image
and, as always, I want to thank you all for sharing my adventure in art.
