Art Notes
David and Goliath is the latest in my ongoing series of paintings depicting Bible stories. It is a tale rich in detail and one which translates well onto the canvas. In my depiction David, the young shepherd, classically faces the Philistine warrior giant, Goliath, armed only with his slingshot and armored only with his faith.
The lamb following David signifies the presence of his God, as the clouds in the distant sky serve to foretell the story’s outcome. And, most important of all, the messages in the parable become clear; have faith and find courage and never underestimate an opponent. Do these things and, as David fell his indomitable foe, all is possible. I hope you will continue with me as I further explore the Bible and its many narratives, and as always, thank you for sharing my adventures in art.
