Art Notes
Thomas Kinkade loved to travel. Discovering new romantic cities, stunning mountain vistas, or luscious hillsides and gardens, he delighted in setting up his outdoor easel and capturing these discoveries on canvas. And from these plein air (open air) works often emerged later studio masterpieces.
The English countryside was always one of Thom's favorite places. He loved the charming country lanes lined with quaint cottages that would glow from within with the warm lights of family and home. Lights that would beckon family and friends to stop, step inside and enjoy a warm cup of tea, a gentle conversation, the sharing of laughter and the deepening bonds of friendship and love.
Lovelight Cottage – Cottage Lane I, began as one of these discoveries – a light-filled cottage discovered on a quiet country lane in England, beckoned the artist to stop and capture it on canvas as a reminder of all these things that we cherish: the warmth of home, the love of family, the romance of true love; the light that we all share.
