Art Notes
There is a certain delight to rendering forest critters in their homes. For me, I think the fun may have been inspired by the classic children’s book The Wind in the Willows. In this frolicking tale, there is magic and excitement to be found in the daily lives of toads, moles, and badgers. In my painting Badger’s Den, I try and capture a bit of that wonderment in the peering eyes of this woodland creature. In the Kenneth Grahame story, Badger lives deep in the wild wood and is a kind and compassionate character who is always willing to help his friends. And while my badger is unlikely to take a ride with toad, he still exudes curiosity and a willingness to be met in his doorway with his nose poking out. I hope you enjoy the visit with our new friend as much as I enjoyed taking you there, and, as always, thank you for sharing my adventure in art.
